Washing glasses

Washing glasses

During the evening a lot of glassware is used. To make sure we have enough glasses we need to clean them throughout the evening. Most of this will be done by hand, but towards the end of the evening, or if there are a lot of glasses, your SVH might ask you to start using the dishwasher.

Always remember, an upside down glass is clean, dirty glasses should go right side up.

By hand

The sink next to the drafts will be filled with water and should contain a soap block.

If there is no more soap (the water will stop foaming), you can add a new block to the water. In Hubble these can be found underneath the sink, in Meteor you will find them in the cabinet under the coffee machine.

How to handwash a glass
  1. Take the glass and pour any remaining drinks in the drain (not in the cleaning water!)
  2. Put the glass onto the brush, do this is such a way that you also scoop some water to clean the inside.
  3. Move the glass up and down on the brush and twist it around so the entire outside gets cleaned as well. You can visually check that the inside of the glass fully gets cleand, and water reaches the bottom.
  4. Press the glass on the water sprayer (X shaped thingy next to the tap).
  5. Put clean glass upside down on the bar. (Do not put them on the shelves (Hubble) or hang them up (Meteor))

If you get a glass or cup that has contained any dairy, put it next to the dishwasher in the back. If dairy gets in the sink it can cause mold forming, which would be unfortunate.

At the end of the night, all glasses that have been on the bar need to go through the dishwasher. After this they can be placed on the shelves in Hubble, or hung up and put on the glass shelves in Meteor. If part of the bar has already been cleaned, they can also be placed there. If you are not sure whether the bar has been cleaned, ask your SVH.

When putting glasses on shelves or stacking them it is important that the glasses have mostly cooled down and dried up. This is to prevent mold forming and glasses creating a vacuum. You can hang up warm glasses or put them on the bar unstacked.

Hubble

Fill a dishwasher tray with dirty glasses and make sure they are all placed upside down. Put this tray in the dishwasher, close it and press P1. The dishwasher will run itself and count down until it is done. When it is done, take out the tray and put it on the bar above the dishwasher. Let the glasses cool down and put them away on the shelf and repeat.

If the dishwasher gives an error notification, open and close it and press P1 again to restart.

Meteor

Fill a dishwasher tray with dirty glasses and make sure they are all placed upside down. Put this tray in the dishwasher, close it and press the left circle (with one line in it). The dishwasher will run itself and count down until it is done. When done, take out the tray and put it on top of the dishwasher or next to the sink (or wherever there is space).  Let the glasses cool down and put them away.
