What are Hubble and Meteor?

Hubble Community Café and Meteor Community Café share the same community. The cafés are accessible for all. Our general mindset is that everything is possible. During the day the cafés are run by professional staff, allowing us to serve lunch and dinner. From 20:00 onwards, or during special events, Hubble and Meteor are run by association bartenders under the supervision of an SVH (Harry). 

Hubble's origin

Hubble is the result of the hard work of former enthusiasts of the Bunker bar. The Bunker bar was a bar in the building that housed the student associations and culture associations called the Bunker. When it closed and all culture associations moved to Luna, team Bar Potential was set up (named after the working name for what is now Luna: Potentiaal). The team pitched the concept of a profit-making, student-run bar, which would share its profits with the associations that ran it at night. 

Meteor's origin

As Hubble grew, the number of guests and connected associations that wanted to bartend increased. With the building projects of Haven, there was an opportunity to open a second bar with the same community but a different assortment and the possibility to exclusively book the entire bar. Team Bubble started the project of founding a new bar, which is set to open in the summer of 2025.

Ground rules

Anyone in Hubble and Meteor, be it guests, staff, SVH, management, or bartenders, should know and adhere to the house rules, which can be found on the snap frames near the entrances. Guests are to behave themselves as expected and follow the instructions of staff, SVH, bartenders, and the management. 

Only staff/bartenders/SVH who are on duty or invited by the SVH should be behind the bar to serve food and beverages. It is not allowed for other people to be behind the bar, in the kitchen, or in any other non-publicly accessible spaces. The manager and board, unless in the bars as a guest, are an exception to this rule. 

Hubble, Meteor, and you

As staff/bartender/SVH,  you are the centerpiece of the bar. You are the host, responsible for running the bar and keeping our guests happy. While it is important that you adhere to the rules, it is also important that you have fun! If you enjoy yourself, the bar livens up too.
